The Anthology is A Tribe Called Quest's greatest hits compilation from 1999, covering their entire career up to that date. The compilation contains songs from their entire catalog, including People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm, The Low End Theory, Midnight Marauders, Beats, Rhymes and Life and The Love Movement, as well as some original soundtracks. It also contains the song "Vivrant Thing" by Q-Tip, featured on Violator Management's first music compilation through Violator Records/Def Jam Recordings. The song later appeared on Q-Tip's solo album Amplified, released in 1999. The album cover features Erykah Badu in fluorescent green and orange stripes, reminiscent of the traditional colors of the Kente tribe of northern Congo.
