Photography is an act of self-awareness and cultural awareness. In his sixty-year career, Franco Fontana has photographed that which cannot be seen, succeeding through framing in fixing an "other" image, abstract from reality, free from the subject represented. Geometry, proportion and composition enabled him to achieve, by progressive degrees, a conceptual synthesis that translated into a linguistic unity and its formal manifestation, the image. Today, the crisis of the liquid society offers the author the opportunity to explore new territories of the invisible "to the eye nu", broadening the visual horizon and iconographic structure while maintaining stylistic coherence and identity. If unity is born from the hybridization of differences, it is from the affirmation of unity itself that differences are born, in a system in constant equilibrium between the conceptual and the formal, the invisible and the visible.

Invisible, a 168-page book featuring over 100 photographs, is the result of meticulous archival research, from which many previously unpublished shots have emerged: from the most experimental research to the most intimate testimonies of expressive freedom, which constitute the fertile ground from which the inimitable style that has made Franco Fontana internationally famous was born. Dedicated to those who know or are approaching the author's expressive journey, to those who want to explore that inner space, beyond reality, that belongs to subjective interpretation, where we go in search of the image that is not yet there and that only the sensitivity of the photographer's eye can capture and translate into a unique, unrepeatable shot. In this way, the invisible suddenly becomes visible.
